Kyokushin Kaikan Karate is a traditional Japanese style which was founded by Sosai Masutatsu Oyama.  It is world renound as, "the Strongest Karate."   Many martial art styles teach predominately either boxing or kicking.  Kyokushin's emphasis is placed equally on developing techniques for hands and feet.   It is a very demanding style, which requires patience and perseverance.

The SAIZEN DOJO at CHOCONUT

The Saizen Dojo was founded in 1960 by Sensei Robert Downey (photo left).  It is the first Kyokushin Kaikan Dojo [karate school] and the oldest running karate dojo in the Southern Tier area of New York.  Shihan Robert Wright (photo right), was one of Sensei Downey's students, and is now the Southern Tier's NAKO Branch Chief.  The Saizen Dojo is presently under the headship of Sensei Esther Karabon (no photo... yet), who was also a student of Sensei Downey.

The Choconut Dojo was a recently formed sister dojo to the Saizen Dojo of Endicott NY because of the large karate interest in the Choconut PA area.  Presently, all Saizen Dojo operations are now conducted at Neuman Hall in Choconut, PA.

Kyokushin Karate is for anyone from 5 to 95 interested in fitness or learning to protect oneself.  We teach self-defense, kata [form fighting], free-fighting, weapons training, stretching, sparring, physical and mental training, discipline, respect and confidence.  Kyokushin Karate can help any person to react faster to modern situations, allowing oneself to defend against danger, or help oneself cope with the stresses at work, home or school.
